Okay, I have to disagree with this.

The Republican Party is not great but the Democrats are 100% on par with the Republicans, if not a bit more. Republicans it seems do what they do out of a sense of old-fashion patriotism that at least, to me, is somewhat meaningful; it's about the nation itself and their idea of what it should embody. Democrats on the other hand seem to focus on character, in which they always seem to be putting forth a movement that advocates a sense of 'decency' (especially when they were faced with Trump) and fairness (for everyone, of course). That is why Republicans are often looked at as insensitive assholes and Democrats are looked upon as ass-kissing soft-spined bureaucrats.
