I think too that this makes Christians incidentally appear to be self-absorbed and makes God to be more like a reusable genie than a personal god. Both sentiments I gate fiercely and it is, ironically, the evangelical branch that is almost fully responsible for this. Even as a believer, I feel like playing devil’s advocate with these people who make these egregious films and say: “How come God could not save thousands of children in Africa but could help one man win a football game to reboot his career and for his wife to have a completely healthy baby?”
