I studied abroad in Austria for five months. I know what you're talking about, though perhaps the French take it one degree further than the Austrians do. I was in Klagenfurt and I dined often at a place called Uniwert, which was beside my dorm. There and at a pizza restaurant nearby, I would see some pretty strange table mannerisms. Cutting their pizza with a knife and fork was weird enough, but some at the Uniwirt I would were cutting their hamburgers with a knife and fork!

What is this madness?!
