I recall watching an episode of the YouTube series "History Buffs" with Nick Hodges and he did it on Band of Brothers. He asks a good question about how they could possibly get the fate of Blithe wrong because the whole episode is about him. This kinda fills in the gaps a little bit with your explanation. Thanks.
