And so, the sickly depressed poet, Hontōni Waruishijin, knowing that he could never live up to the artistic grandeur of Saijō Yaso, decided to take his own life…

…authorities ruled his death was suicide by poem.

And the religious leaders of the community and common populace, upon hearing this, stated: “He is now with Tomino.”

That is why another Japanese poet, Dokusō Tekidenai, wrote a follow-up to Yaso’s poem called “Tomino’s Victim.”

And anyone who reads “Tomino’s Victim” will surely die.
